Default Looking For Home In North Jersey

My growing family is looking for an area to put down some roots. We are currently in Queens and have been working with a realtor in the Hackensack area. The listings from Bergenfield, Dumont, Teaneck, Lodi, and Garfield seem nice and in our range but we are a multi-lingual/ethnic family and don't want to go to a place where our kids will be out of place. Any suggestions on good places to go?

Take Garfield and Teaneck off that list and youll be fine. Those towns have problems that you just dont want to deal with.

All of NJ is multi-lingual and ethnic now a days. You can go just about anywhere and fit in.

Like the above posts said...I would avoid Teaneck (racial issues) and even Bergenfield. There are some nice areas of Hackensack not off Main Street that you could look into, but the prices may be pretty high. Also, try New Milford and Rochelle Park - these are nice little towns. I grew up in New Milford (my parents still live there) and my girlfriend got a nice starter house in Rochelle Park.

It depends on your background. Lodi/Garfield are/were very Italian areas. Some great restaurants/deli's there. There are houses of worship that provide Italian services.

There are other towns that are more populated by other backgrounds as well and have the same benefits.

PalPark/Ft Lee are heavily Asian for example.

Other towns have more Cuban/Dominican residents. It all depends on who you are and what you are looking for.

Good luck...
