Many barn stars, unique in their appearance, represented the trademark of the builder who constructed the barn.

The tradition of the barn star in America can be traced back to the 1700’s, and to at least the 1870’s in Pennsylvania. Barn stars were most popular after the Civil War.
Exactly, You see alot of those Stars on Amish Homes in Lancaster, PA. To think of it you slso see it on homes in TN amish country. Amish have a german background,

Perhaps it means many things to many peeps. Why does it have to have a single meaning. To Many its for Texas, for others its for the kids they have in the Iraq/Afghan War, to some its a decoration. Why does someone have to be wrong?

For this you are correct. However, your explanation was not the only correct explanation. In Texas, it probably is to represent the lone star state. In NJ or PA it has another meaning. It would not make sense for anyone living in NJ or PA to hang a star if they wanted to represent the lone star state. It did not make sense.

I did, too, when I first saw them. The first time I saw one was around this time of year so I thought it was for Wicca or one of the other neo-pagan religions indicating their Samhain holiday, but they really use the pentacle, the five-pointed star with a circle around it.

It's apparently just a decoration that's gotten popular.

sure it does, and if you ever met a Texan, a Texan is Always a Texan, and wants to represent Texas anywhere in the USA.

LOL With all the barn stars that I see around the area, I wonder if Texas is empty? Last one to leave, turn the light out.
