Anyone living in Highlands?
My family and I are seriously considering a home in Highlands. I'm pretty familiar with the area, AH, Highlands, Sea Bright.
I know the town has a mix of people, which is okay with me, but I'd love to hear from someone who has moved in recently.
We are looking in the hills because I think it's just beautiful up there.
I have 3 children, so I'd be concerned about the schools. When I checked the school rankings, there was a huge improvement from last year. Anyone have children in the school system?
We're renting in Sea Bright right now (which I LOVE) but there doesn't seem to be many year round families with children here.
Thanks. I'd appreciate any help.

Ha Ha, likewise, I've never heard of your neck of the woods. I thought I knew every town in NJ.
How is it a girl who will "work for beer" isn't familiar with the Jersey Shore?

I went to Oceanport public schools - which is where the Sea Bright kids go and then, of course, we all went to Shore Regional High School. There were 8 kids in my class from Sea Bright. I think we only had about 25 from Monmouth Beach.
Highlands is definitely better. I think they're more like 30 kids per grade. Still a small district.
I never understood why Sea Bright kids went to our school - as opposed to Highlands or Rumson. Both schools are so much closer. When we were at Shore it would take the kids who lived out near Sandy Hook 45 minutes or more to get home on the bus.

Funny you mentioned it, the bus ride is one of the things that bothers me about Sea Bright. And the fact that they wouldn't feel the same sense of community they would in their own school.
I believe I'm overthinking things.

Ha Ha, "Come North, it'll feel more like the South." I'm really a born and raised Jersey Girl. Did 2 years in NC, and coming back.
My husband takes the ferry into NYC, which he will NOT give up. I don't blame him. But I wouldn't mind coming up for some of that ol' moonshine!!
