I wonder if any other NJ people have read this book and/or are out there really making an effort to buy foods from smaller local farms?... Shopping the Jersey Fresh Farmer's markets? Not spraying pesticides or herbicides on your own lawns? Composting? Growing your own food?

My wife and I do not use any chemicals whatsoever on our lawn but unfortunately it's not exactly the prettiest lawn. We recently started dropping our clippings instead of bagging them. Then we're going to try to aerate and seed soon.

We want to start composting so we can get some real good veggies next year. We had a little garden this year with some success but our soil is awful and we only feed the plants water.

I am not done with this book but it gives some pretty interesting insight to the things we consume...

Funny because I'm just thinking about this whole new CHINA food debacle.... kind of goes hand in hand.

My DH and I decided we'd have a lawn the kids could play on even if it's not so pretty too!
