Default FOr those of you near NYc and love art

The Museum of Modern art in NYC has a new exhibit on Van Gogh. These exhibits are very rare. It will be there until Jan and then move on to Amsterdam. I can't wait to go next week.

Sweet- hand down my favorite painter. I could stare at his paintings for hours. I dont know what it is, but his use of color and textures are amazing. I find them as much a piece of sculpture as a painting because the painting literally rises off the canvas.

Huge fan here as well... My cousin - retired mounted cop from Brooklyn is now a security guard at MOMA - perhaps he can get me some free tickets

DW is a big art lover and fan of Van Gogh, her favorite artist though is Dali. I personally prefer photography to the likes of Joel Peter Witkin & John Santerineross.

admission to the moma is free on fridays from 4-8pm. naturally, it's insanely packed during those times, but worth it if you only want to check out one or two exhibits and have the patience to elbow out even more tourists than usual.

personally, i'm a cheapo so i generally only go during those free friday hours. i only pay for their excellent film screenings or for general admission when friends visiting from out of town want to stop by the museum on a saturday or sunday.

MoMa had (has?) a Dali exhibit going on right now and its pretty interesting. It highlights his art along with his workings in the film industry.

Tell her to come down and visit us in St. Petersburg. We have an amazing Dali museum.
