Well, I don't consider 250K to be "upper-class" in NJ. Maybe upper-middle class, but not upper-class.
Who said I was? There are plenty of towns much cheaper than Ridgewood (e.g. South Orange, median house price of $539,300 and taxes are insane already!) that make 250K a far cry from "upper class" around here.
I have seen enough govt waste during my time in consulting to know where all that tax money is going. They don't need more of it. If Obama wants to tax the "rich" he should set the bar higher, at some level that truly is "wealthy" in all parts of the county, not just bumbleheck Iowa.
Bottom line: NJ residents are overtaxed as it is, and Obama will raise our taxes even more. And I'm not buying it.
No offense, but if you make $250K, you should easily be able to live in South Orange. I mean, it's a nice town, but, like you said, it's not Ridgewood ... or Alpine, or Rumson, etc. It's got really nice sections, but it also has some sketchy sections (like the area bordering Newark).
Until our government (on any level, city, state, fed) can come up with rules for accountability I will NEVER vote to allow them to raise taxes. The people in charge need to be accountable for where the money goes and why. Until they can trim the waste and get rid of bloat and tighten their belts I dont want to hear it.
Plus, easy for you to say that ... you're deserting us high-taxed NJers ... we'll still be here in NJ getting raked over the coals when it comes to taxes ...

250K in NJ isn't 250K in Georgia, but the fact of the matter is, you're still considred "upper class" by the average citizen. If you're upset about the POSSIBILITY of paying higher taxes, what about a family living on 45k, and is ALREADY paying higher taxes?

What do you mean "already" paying higher taxes? Bush didn't raise anyone's taxes. So the guy making 45K is still paying less in taxes under Bush than he did under Clinton.
