Hello,

My Husband and I are going to be moving to Northern New Jersey in January or Feb of 2009. I will be working in Parsippany, and not sure where my husband will be working yet, possibly in NYC.

We are looking for a single family home in a town with good schools, nice people who are not hung up on money, and keeping up with the joneses. It would be nice if there were some things to do in town or close by.

As far as the home, we are seeking at least 3 bedrooms 2 full baths that has central air, fairly up to date, and not on a busy road. Our budget is up to 650K but we would like to spend less.

Thanks,

Sue

Hi --we are in the same situation...I posted my thread at the same time yesterday as you did. There were some helpful responses in there...

I worked in Bergen county for years and surrounding areas, but never lived in any of those towns. We're looking for almost the same thing --especially a down to earth area. I have friends in Westfield and from what I can tell on here -it is a wonderful area and people are down to earth - more than what you'd expect.

Some towns I've been researching a ton are --Cedar knolls, Whippany, West Caldwell, Glen Ridge (excellent schools, high taxes), Ridgewood (expensive), Ramsey, Montville (can't seem to find anything wrong with this town)

I also looked at the new nj monthly school report which is excellent -you can google nj monthly best nj schools if you're interested. Once you're there -you'll see 2006 -click on 2008 report and you can view it by rank, county, etc. It is really helpful.

Good luck!!!

Hi Sue,

You should consider Parsippany, Morris Plains, Morris Twp., Morristown, Madison, & Florham Park. All have good schools, and all have various things to do in their towns, Morristown having the most things to do but it is drivable within a few minutes from any of these towns.
