Hello, I used to live in NJ and am now moving back from Michigan. I want to live in a trendy, hip, youthful area that has lots of night-life. Does anyone have any ideas? If anyone's familiar with Michigan, something relative to Ann Arbor or Royal Oak.

Would also like to be in Central Jersey if at all possible as I love beaches and city.

Any idea? Thanks for the help!

I'm from Michigan, also. Ypsi/Ann Arbor, to be exact.

TBH - Montclair reminds me a bit of parts of downtown Ann Arbor, with all of the shops and such. Lovely town, but it's northern NJ.

Morristown, Summit, Millburn

All have hip, trendy, happening downtown's. Of them Morristown is the most affordable. The downtown of Morristown is so popular that they can build Million Dollar Condos a block or 2 off of the downtown, and sell them out in this market without much trouble, but you get 8 to 10 blocks off of downtown and it is a very normal market right now, with homes sitting on the market for 70 to 90 days, and selling for 2005 prices.

Red Bank! It's a great riverfront town with tons of restaurants, nightlife, cafes, antique shops and a very nice downtown. Also, the beach is only about a 15 minute drive.

Oh, one more thing, if you want to go into NYC, you can take the train from Red Bank.
