Default Commute from Avenel (Woodbridge) NJ to 14th street nyc

Hi friends,

My husband and I have just moved to Avenel(which falls in Woodbridge), NJ. He has to travel to 14th street NY for work daily. Could you please suggest the commute via train, which would be faster and not that expensive too. Also an approximate time it would take for him to reach the place.

I would greatly appreciate the help.

Thank you in advance.

He could take the train from Avenel or Rahway (I'd suggest Rahway since it's on two train lines and therefore more trains stop there and would be less expensive since it's closer to Newark/NYC) to Newark Penn Station, then switch to the PATH train, change at Journal Square to get the second PATH train, which stops at 14th.

The second option of taking the train from Avenel or Rahway into New York Penn is much more expensive, plus it puts him in midtown, so he'd still have to take the N/R/W or some other subway to get to 14th. That's about $100 or so more a month, I believe.

I've heard arguments for both routes, but think the first way is better.

Ditto JMDurett. It will take about an hour & 15 minutes from the time you get on the train. I commute from Rahway to Wall Street. I don't have to transfer Paths, but I do have about a 15 minute walk to my office from the Path, and it takes me about an hour & 15 minutes.
