Default Why do the state troopers pull over slanted?lol

Burning question. I can't help but notice how they park on the side of the GSP when stopping someone?

In NYS, they always park straight ahead when pulling people over.
Just curious!
I would guess to not run into them? lol..

I think jersey man can answer but, they pull over with the nose of the car out to help protect themselves from getting run over while they are standing at the drivers window???

Personally I would be going to the passenger side.... but not sure what their rules and regulations say.

Pulling over in that manner forces drivers to notice the car more and move over.

Yes, In NYS (used to have troopers in the family lol)they always would go onto the passenger side of the vehicle for safety measures...

I always feel like I am going to hit them lol because it breaks my concentration when I see one parked like that lol...

Sometimes they do, depending on traffic conditions/shoulder width, but it never hurts to have as many layers of protection as possible considering how many officers every year are hurt or killed during traffic stops.

Keeps the engine block of their car between them and the stopped car in case bullets fly; the part of the car with the most metal is the engine.

So if the car they are pulling over decides to put it in reverse and smash the cop car, the radiator won't be destroyed, making the car immobile.
