Personally, if it were me, I would not send my hypothetical child to a school in Hazlet, Keansburg or even Old Bridge. If I were you & childless & found a great investment in Keansburg I might consider moving there but otherwise it doesn't have a great reputation. Leonardo, which probably has comparably priced homes & is comparable in area (maybe slightly better), has at least some parts of the area zoned for Middletown South school district, so that may be a way to get your daughter into a better school district. Also there is a part of Lincroft that has homes on Newman Springs Road/520, a very, very busy highway so not desirable in that respect, but a house may sit longer as a result of that & you may get a better deal on a house in a good school district. If you were to move to a Keansburg or Hazlet & possibly North Middletown I would suggest considering private school, maybe a Catholic school (tuitions are cheaper & you don't have to be Catholic to attend - might be cheaper still then buying a house in a more expensive area). And oh yes I'd avoid Long Branch school system - would consider Monmouth Beach...Also I'd look into Ocean Township - you might be able to get a home priced similar to a Monmouth Beach & the school district is better then a Keansburg et al...Just my two cents...hope that helps!

Keansburg does have a nice section which is next to Middletown. I live there so I know. Hazlet is also very nice but the new construction prices are a little bit "out there" for the area. Look for existing construction. Taxes are also high. Looked at a development off of Middle Rd starting over $620,000. Hazlet is certainly not a trailer-park community like has been suggested, it is a very nice working-class community but they're no "Holmdel" as the new construction price tags are trying to suggest.

FYI...for anyone whose questioning Keansburg as a place to live or an investment. Facts...purchased my home in 2005 at the time the house OVER-APPRAISED, just refinanced this month to take advantage of lower rates....current situation market down-turn....house APPRAISED EVEN HIGHER. Fact remains no matter what anyone says, Keansburg is affordable. Keeping that in mind young people will go where they can get the most for their money, I did and am happy with my decision. As for comments being made about standards of living that's childish. I don't wish to be house-poor and have a very high standard of living. I meet many people such as myself in town when I go to the local pizzerias, pharmacy, etc. We are moving into the area, I can see it in the market just over the last few years I've been there. It's safe. Never had my house or vehicles broken into (own newer German cars), nothing stolen from my yard or property (which isn't locked), walk/run through town or on the bike trail at any time with no troubles, bring my future step-children to the boardwalk for the kiddie rides with no problems, stop in at the Stadium for a snack by myself in the summer with no problems. No town in NJ will be Mayberry keep that in mind.

There are currently 3 threads on page 1 going about Keansburg. Can a mod put them all together? Just wondering!
So much interest for one small town

Aberdeen and Old Bridge have homes under 199g. Plenty of cheap houses in Middletown for under 200g. I suggest looking in Keansburg, more value for the same money. Plus you will not find cheap trailer park houses in Keansburg. Keansburg is an old beach town but very safe. You can't go wrong with whatever town you choose in the bayshore area! They are all great towns in there own way. I suggest not moving to Asbury Park or Long Branch, a lot of crime there.

Try Middletown or Hazlet for a better education and a much nicer town.

Well i disagree Keansburg has a great High School. Im going to a private university and i graduated from Keansburg with a 3.4 and 15 in my class. Its sad how people who probably didn't even go to school here think our schools are bad. It sucks that people who don't even live here just drive through town and think its a dump because they are wrong. As far as gangs... we don't have any.

and fairy tales can come true!
sorry the facts, stats and real life experience point to a different conclusion.
you have proven that kids can succeed in almost any school setting, you are an aberration to the norm, Keansburg's High School ranks very low on the state report cards.
