I think sometimes people take it a bit personally when a school system they attended is not considered desirable; as though they are being painted with the same brush. Understandably Keansburg is not like say a High School in Camden or Newark but it is considered on the lower end wrspct desirability when it compared to other public schools that would be considered by a person of middle class income.

We looked online, and there were quite a few listings from a realtor in Keansburg within our price range. We don't want a "nice" house - we want something serviceable but without a lot of neighborhood regulations. We want to be able to put up ham radio and TV antennas, etc. without upsetting the neighbors or breaking some sort of housing code.

If location isn't an issue, try looking at Beachwood, NJ (Ocean County). There are homes that need some TLC in your price range. The area is safe.

Keansburg
Keansburg used to be a "not-so-nice" town, poor is a better word. There were trailer pakrs, run-down apartments, and a lot of different people coming in and out. But like most NJ Shore towns (Asbury Park, Neptune, Red Bank, Long Branch Point Pleasant, Manasquan, and yes, even Seaside Heights) Keansburg is half-way through the "Redeveloping Stage." Soon, Keansburg and the other towns I listed will become nicer towns and the Jersey Shore will be even more beautiful!

i know im a little late with this topic but i was just researching information for a project and started reading these post...... im from Keansburg and there are certain parts that arent the greatest but all in all its an okay town everyone is always very supportive here most people and neighbors are very close kind of like in the movies where we well go to our neighbors and get a some sugar or something like that lol, and everyone in this town loves sports when a team is doing good like last year the HS football team made it to the championships and i think pretty much the entire town was there supporting the titans and it really was amazing.. since theres like 4 or 5 nursing homes in this town you see alot of senior citizens walking around and people that arent from town think they are crazy rapist but there not but it is what it is.... and as for the animals we have for kids most of the kids here are not out trying to ruin peoples property they are no worst then the next towns trust me im in my 20's and all my friends and people i know from this town are normal. The worst part in this town is around the board walk so when people go there thats all they see but beyond that the people are normal and friendly and the teachers here are great they are also very supportive and since its a small town the principles and teachers will remember names when i see my high school principle he always asks me how Im doing and everything.. so if your looking for a home thats in budget and worried about how terrible keansburg it i hope this answers questions.... and my advice is to just keep clear of the streets by the boardwalk, but the board walk itself is an okay place something to do

The only people that say Keansburg is nice is the people that live there. I think they are delusional. Everyone else realizes its a dump.

Ive been there to a party at night. Was only in town for a few hours. Seemed pretty sleepy to me. Had a working class feel about it to me also. If it matters to you Ive heard the term "White trash" more than once to describe Keansburg. Like I said I wasnt there long but it was at night and I didnt feel like I was in Trenton or my car was going to be stolen at all.

My wife and I bought a small 3 bedroom cape in Keansburg in 2006. We had heard of the reputaion that keansburg had in its past, so we visited the town often, at night, during the day, summer, and winter, we decided that the town is really a nice town with mostly hard working people. We meet more and more people like ourselves, young proffessionals that are moving into town all the time. Its only a matter of time before Kburg is reveared as a great turnaround story of the N.J. Bayshore!
