FYI...haven't posted in awhile but couldn't resist this one. Refinanced again to get that beautiful 4.75% rate and am happy to say the house appraised higher once again...have lost no value in this economy on my home purchase in Keansburg from 2005. I love the way people pass judgement on people who live here calling us "delusional" etc cause we like it...haha! I didn't know the true definition of a "delusional" person until this oh so well spoken bright individual enlightened me....I guess with a bachelors degree, masters degree, a 300,000+ household salary and a very successful career with one of the largest utilities in the world I'm "delusional"...LOL! Since I've last posted I am due with my first child any day now. Last year we realized a tax increase for a referendum to expand and improve the school system so taxes are not as low as they were when I first moved here but the schools are going to be beautiful and have all state of the art equipment when finished. I have made the choice early on to send my daughter to Private/Catholic School...one because I can afford it, two b/c I myself attended 13 years of catholic school and third b/c it is convenient to have the religious education handled in the classroom vs (as a working mother) having to arrange separate religious eduction. My advice if you're considering moving here...come visit, look around and make your own decision. Visit the schools, etc. Don't misinterpret the simple down-to-earth presentation of some of the long-time residents. I've learned many are quite well off and far from poor or lower middle class. They are very similar to families in surrounding towns...they buy their kids expensive cars, send them to private schools, purchase new boats/motorcycles for b-days/anniversaries, set their kids up in businesses, so on and so forth. They just live in smaller houses on smaller plots of land. These are the things I think people view as making the surrounding towns "better" or "classier"....the bigger homes, the money they throw at their children for consumables, or the cache to say they have a certain address or their child goes to a certain public school system. Well the more money from taxes a town has the more money they can throw at the schools...makes sense. That is how our schools in Jersey are funded. How many square miles is Middletown or Holmdel vs Keansburg or Keyport...you can't compare. Just because we're Keansburg residents doesn't mean we care less about the education our children get...we've voted to take on the referendum to put additional tax money into the schools. Also, when searching for real estate in town look at EVERYTHING. I made the mistake of not looking at another house in the area the realtor suggested and I regret it because for a few thousand more it had some additional upgrades that I had to do myself in my current house.
