Personally I would not buy a house in the run-down parts of Keyport, Union Beach, Aberdeen, and Laurence harbor but everyone has there own opinion. Most towns have there good and bad parts, shop wisely. Middletown and Hazlet have some very nice areas, but it all depends on what your looking for. I feel good living in Keansburg! So much available in this small town... a very smart move for me. And in all honesty, you can't go wrong with the bayshore, the whole area is changing for the better with new construction and the quality of life I think in the bayshore area is excellent!

The owners of the amusement park and water park own the land there park sits on, so they do not have to sell! The parking lot is owned by the town, but they dont need that parking lot. Again, that amusement park, water park and boardwalks is not being sold... I think the ones that say that are just not well informed or are hoping they do tear it down. Those rumors have been going on forever! Geeze! I love the boardwalk of Keansburg... not the greatest but its still nice!

i love it too. i've been going there since i was a child myself and im now 40 so thats at least 30 years. i would hate to see it go.. I wish police and the people who run that town woud get there act together and get the riff raff outta there. you cannot tell me you dont think its bad yes all towns have that but not like keansburg. i know. a family member has friends who work on the police dept and friends on the council there and its bad. there are gangs now in the town. they have drug dealers coming in from long branch dealing and hangin there and also from asbury park. someone needs to step up to these people and get them outta there. they started cleaning up asbury and thats what they should do in keansburg.

I don't know what your talking about, I can walk though town and feel safe. My friend's daughter who is 17 loves it here. She hated living in Old Bridge, and she is an honor's student in school going onto college. Everyone tells me the town is much better then what it used to be that lives here. I lived here a year and a half and i love it here. As far as gangs go, I haven't seen or heard anything. I think they should clean up more than half the other towns in New Jersey with gangs and drugs first, maybe this way they won't be coming to Keansburg to hang out in. Some people love to slander this town.

Im sure its not by main street or by keelyns..or even the walk in boys. its bad. and if your daughter is going onto college then im sure she stayed away from all the bad stuff. you dont see the gangs because they blend in. they are there. i agree with you about all the other towns. ya know what if you your happy there then thats all that matters. I personally like keansburg always did. nice little town.

Honestly I am not gonna lie there are parts of Keansburg that look bad, near Carr Avenue by Cumberland Farms. I am not sure about those apartments near there also. As far as I am concerned once the ball gets rolling and the new luxury condo's come in on both sides of the amusement park, hopefully other developers will start buying up other lots. From what I have heard there are a lot of developers vying to come in here. I would love someone to buy out the apartments, knock em down and build nice homes. This town has so much potential. I live on Myrtle Avenue. My neighbors are great, very friendly, and very safe. What town are you from Deb anyway? what is the walk in boys? Parts of Main street look a little shady too. My best friend moved here and lives near Central Ave with his daughter. They like it a lot better here than Laurence Harbor. We are both professionals, and I have another professional friend with a family that just moved here too. Hopefully it's a postive sign. If the town went to hell, trust me, we wouldn't be moving here. Many towns have there good and bad sections as long as it doesnt get out of control and I hope this town keeps moving in a positive direction. I love the entire bayshore area. Keansburg is an old beach town, where as a single guy, everyone seems friendly well so far <laughing>. We never had parades or festivals growing up in the mass suburbia town where I grew up in. This weekend I am gonna try to ride my bike to Sandy Hook on the trails, hopefully I make it! I'm thinking of getting involved with this town, so much they can do!

considering Keansburg
After Reading through the entire list of posts, I am still strongly considering moving to Keansburg. Are there any particular areas that are safer than others? Will be taking a look around this weekend. How about Seabreeze Blvd. or Shore Blvd.? All comments appreciated. Thanks.

I strongly suggest you drive and take a look at the street and the neighbors and see what it looks like during the day and nite and when it rains to see if it floods. The closer to the water, you may be required to purchase flood insurance. I have been told there are good parts of Keansburg and bad parts. I wish you a lot of luck. Some people like to put Keansburg down, but in all honesty, some houses in the same price range are a lot nicer in Keansburg than parts of the surrounding towns. But also I kept away from some houses in Keansburg too because of the facts I stated above. All I know is I have no regrets moving here... happy on Myrtle Ave. I have two other friends that recently moved to Keansburg too, all happy too! If I bought a house for what I paid for in Keansburg in a surrounding town, It would have been in an older, smaller house, smaller lot or on a flooded street, topped with higher taxes.

[quote=Dion1usa;984053]Your right, I heard the Highlands is going thru a transformation too. So is Keansburg. I can send you some links if you like. One was posted in the New York Times saying how Keansburg is up and coming with a lot of developers vying to come in now! Keansburg is on the verge or a major transformation from what the artice was saying as well. I didnt look at the houses in the Highlands was too far from my work... but maybe things in my future will change and I may consider it. I'd love to be near the ocean... thats priceless. I just looked from Laurence Harbor, Keyport, Union Beach, Part of Middletown and Aberdeen... and I think Keansburg has so many more postives than those towns! Im sorry my mistake... I do like the highlands too, but remember at one time the Highlands was a lot of bungalows and shacks and its now transforming too... just give credit where credit is due. I could definitely move to the Highlands when I start family... but depends on my job and all too.[/QUOT
You are totally out of your mind. I have read a LOT of your posts and would have to concur with the post that wanted some of what you're smoking. You're not only in denial, but I don't believe that you visited the towns that you mention. So much if what you say is total BS, it makes me wonder. I live in Middletown and I don't know of an area that is as beaten down as your beloved "Burg". Granted, I don't find it to be the cesspool that a lot of people paint it as but it certainly isn't the Paradise that you speak of. The Highlands I find more quaint than "dangerous" , while Keansburg is known to be very sketchy. Back 20 years ago when I looked at homes in the area, not knowing anything about the Bayshore I was shown some homes in No. Middletown and a few were quite lovely. Not knowing any better I may have bought one. But..in hindsight I know now that Realtors are shrewd enough not to mention the Keansburg factor, when in actuality it really was Keansburg and not long after became North Middletown. Not having a lot of money when my kids were little, I would take them to the Keansurg boardwalk during the DAY only. I must tell you that I have very fond memories of those times. For $20, they had a ball. We all ate, went on the rides, and played some stands. I needed $100 to do that in Point Pleasant or Seaside. I smile when I think of it. Not only did I go to there 45+ years ago as a child from North Jersey, my kids had the same experience. To their credit the police and town officials all work very hard at keeping the town safe and to change it's image. I don't think too many of us will get any waterfront property. I hear that they are asking $500k+ for the condos in Belford.

Tina, I would be very happy to show you some of the crappy run-down houses I looked at in parts of Middletown, Hazlet, Union Beach, Aberdeen, Cliffwood Beach, Laurence Harbor and Belford. Some of those streets in those towns I was looking at were awful, cluttered and tight, neighbors seemed awful, and the quality I was looking for wasnt there! I'm sorry, but I made a great move, I showed people the homes I was looking at, and all have said my street, my house are 100% better then what I would have gotten in a nearby town for the same price, let me stress for the "same" price. I think your in complete denial or it must make you feel good to put another town down. But in all honesty the entire bayshore isnt a rich area to begin with. I grew up in Monroe township where homes go for over a million dollars... so I can turn around and say this whole bayshore strip is a dump... difference between you and me, I look for the good and you look for the bad! Everyone loves it here where I live better then the surrounding towns, except it seems a few locals in nearby towns? Why? Perhaps jealousy? Maybe because there is greater quality of life in Keansburg? I have no idea? Don't get me wrong there are parts of Keansburg I wouldn't dare to live in either and there are parts of Middletown I thought were very beautiful as well. Geeze! I was seeing a girl in North Middletown, her house was very tiny, street was very tight, I couldnt wait to get out of there! Anyways, I don't smoke. I'm a chemist... I make things smoke! After living here 17 months, I love this town! I made a great move. I like the Highlands! and I like the entire bayshore area. Keansburg isn't a paradise, it has its good and bad... just like most towns! Keansburg also has very high price luxury condo's soon to be built... a lot of new developments coming in! Fine dining and retail shopping are gonna be built by the waterfront by next spring. There talking about starting a Keansburg ferry to Manhattan as more professionals move in, I hope so, this town has so much potential! so perhaps this is the many positives or the "Keansburg factor" that realtors you say tell there buyers. Gotta love the entire bayshore area !!!

"GREATER QUALITY OF LIFE" . Are we talking about Keansburg, NJ? You were "seeing a girl in North Midddletown and couldn't wait to get out"..thats hysterical That's where you live..dips**t You took people around to ALL the homes you were looking at and they agreed that you made a great move" You looked at homes in Middletown and nothing compared to the great find that you have now..lmao I am afraid I can't be as polite as some others when I say that you are either dilusional, a pathological liar, or a total a**h***.
