I was failed for the little light bulb next to my back license plate being dead. I didn't even know I had a little light bulb there.

I was also failed for two rock hits that I took on the Turnpike. They hadn't spread yet, but they were bullseye cracks.

i am sorry but that sounds like a genuine reason to fail inspection!

I failed because I only had a copy of my insurance card, not the official card.

Yeah they are very strict about that. I guess they had too many cases of 'fake' photo-copies of insurance cards.

That's kind of the reason for this thread...people who aren't driving POS cars are failing for stupid stuff.
The condensation in the foglight and the oil change sticker take the cake. Only in NJ!!
Can't wait to move to SC..you can ride around without a windshield if you want and no one blinks an eye.

Also the no-tint law in NJ is ridiculous-these days,it gets just as sunny and hot here as it does in FL, where people drive cars with totally blacked-out windows.

Gas cap. I had a gas cap. The car was about 5 years old. It really looked OK, seemed to screw on securely. Must have been a slow day at the DMV. Maybe they hadn't met their failure quota.

ORIGINAL MERCEDES tint on our Mercedes S420 windows!!! I repeat, original, and they were telling my husband it failed due to an "aftermarket" tint!! NOT!!He had to go home and rip the two windows *front* before they would pass it.
idiots. I can't stand NJ in some ways!! In Mass, we never had a problem. Please tell me all the people driving in NJ who have tinted windows fail too LOL.......
