my kids' early dismissal is cancelled b/c of the worsening conditions - they need time to get the plows out. my neighbor's mom crashed her car before (she's ok).

Calico696 - Wow! It looks like a blizzard by you! Down here near the NC/SC border, the worst snow we've gotten has been around 2 inches in Feb 2007. This prompted the closing of school and all of the municipal offices. Most of the stores couldn't open either - no employees showed up. That makes me laugh!

The earliest snowfall I remember was in 1969, as a college freshman at WPC in Wayne. It snowed on October 10th and hard enough to cover the grass. I believe even NYC saw some snow that day, and they commented that the earliest the city had snow was October 7th.

I didn't bring my snow shovel and sold my snow blower to my neighbor when I moved. I'm sure one of these days I'll regret that! But in the meantime, I'll enjoy the snow vicariously through your terrific picture!

mike - Global warming usually means warmer warms, colder colds, wetter wets and dryer drys! It's not just more heat! I just saw a show a few weeks back on the Discovery Channel about this!

You know what I think? I think there's no such thing as a 'normal' temperature. It is what it is.

Trivia question: what was the hottest month in the last 100 years for most of the country? You'll be surprised.
