Bayville, Berkley
Can anyone tell me about these two areas.......shopping, access to highways and just general info about the neighborhoods and homes in the area?
Thanks

Berkeley Township I think is divided by the bay--part of it is one the beach and part of it is on the mainland. It's divided by Tom's River and Seaside Heights.
In general it's a super affordable area. Not a bad place to live--you've got the ocean, which is spectacular. There are some highway strip areas with shopping, and the GS Parkway is right there.

Erright, here is the real scoop.
The Township is Berkeley.
The parts of Berkeley are Beachwood, Pine Beach, Ocean Gate and Bayville.
To the North is South Toms River (Undesirable).
To the South is Lacey Township (Pretty nice).
The Northern part of Berkeley is Beachwood. Beachwood, IMO, is a bit dated.
Pine Beach is a little nicer, and part of it is on the water (Not the ocean as previously mentioned by another poster, but on Barnegat Bay)
Ocean Gate has some really nice homes that are on the water.
Bayville is a mixture of nice homes on the water, newer homes, some priced very high, and older homes.
The school system is pretty fair.
There is also pretty decent access to all supermarkets.
YOu can access the GSP from either Exit 77, which is in Bayville, or Exit 80, which brings you into South Toms River and Beachwood.
The closest mall is the Ocean County Mall which is in Toms River (Sears, Macys, Penneys)
Anything else?

I lived in Bayville.....we were right on the water (the lagoon which went out to the bay which opened to the ocean).
In all honestly, I wasn't crazy about living there because in the summer you have all these tourists/vacationers. I hated it. In the wintertime it's nice and quite, but come summer time, forget it. Also, from being so close to the water , the "sea air" doesn't do nice things to your vehicle's paint, etc.
I did enjoy riding our waverunner though. But all in all, I would never want to live in a town on the shore where it becomes so crowded during summer mos.
