Default Yet, another 'Moving to NJ' thread!

Yes! That is right! Yet another request for information concerning the NJ area. And, yes, I did do a search for the other previously posted threads.

However, my situation is different from most of those other threads (no kids).

My situtation: Looking at moving to the Ft Dix area for a job at the Ft in early Jan. I am single, straight, male, 35, with a dog (50lbs). Looking for something more rural then urban and NOT suburban (read NOT cookie cutter tract housing). Done the city thing. Was nice back in my 20s, not so much anymore. Looking to rent for the near term (6mos/1yr) while I get to know the area, about the $800/900/1k range. Dont need anything more then one bedroom. I am of the outdoorsy type. Love the cold (yes I am odd that way, from Ohio originally). Dont mind a 20-40 minute commute.
If anyone can offer any information, suggestions, web sites, etc I would appreciate it.

v/r

Hi,

You could try looking for something like a farm house out in the Columbus area. Something off of Rt. 206/38 or Monmouth Rd would be close to Ft. Dix.

New Egypt is also nice and a small town that is less developed.

There are other towns that are close to Fort Dix too but I just didn't mention them because I am not familiar with them.

You can try searching in the classified sections of local newspapers on their websites. Does Fort Dix have any sort of program that helps find local housing?

I grew up in Pemberton Township. The town that pretty much serves FortDix. Surrounded by nature with small lakes a bit spread out, anywhere there is within 30 minutes. If u look in the newspaper maybe Burlington County Times they will show ads for rent in that area.

There are also about 5 apartment areas, they range about 800 minimum for 1 bedroom. One is on trenton road its 1km drive, one near Busansky and emmons elementary schools on pemberton vincentown rd, a couple on rt 38 near pemberton borough, and one on Lakehurst road. On the other side of fortdix is new egypt, the hanovers, springfield, columbus but i dont think ur likely to find much there

Did research Medford yesterday, and did find one apartment complex in that area in my price range.

Will reseach New Egypt and Columbus based on your suggestion. Thank you!
