Default Commute Advice - Wayne Valley HS to JSQ/JC (Car only)

A good buddy of mine needs HELP!! What is the best route (and sub routes) to drive home in the PM from Wayne Valley HS (in Wayne) to Journal Square (JSQ) area in Jersey City by car? Time of his departure is 4:45-5:45pm.

I told him take Preakness or Valley/Totowa Rd/Crews (from WVHS) to Union Blvd. South through Totowa onto RT80E. I advised him against using RT46E because of the NASTY RT3/46E bottleneck at MSU.

Seems once on RT80E a ton of options arise to begin "descent" to JC.

For example
1. RT19S to GSP by Garret Mountain (to additional routes to JC)
2. RT20/21S across from Marcal in EP (to additional routes to JC)
3. GSP in Saddle Brook (to additional routes to JC)
4. RT17S in Lodi (to additional routes to JC)
5. NJTPKE in Teaneck area (to additional routes to JC)
6. RT1&9S near Pal Park (to additional routes to JC)

Feedback, comments, suggestions welcomed.

here's how i would do it, but i can't for certainty (sp) say it's the best way:

Rt 46 E (however you need to get to that point from Wayne Valley) to Rt 3 E to 1&9 South (Tonnele Ave) to a jughandle to Manhattan Ave. Turn right onto Kennedy Blvd to JSQ on the left.

Totally disgaree with you. He's better off going RT80E past Squirrelwood Rd. in West Paterson and probably doing RT20/21S to RT3E for the rest as you proposed. RT3/46E split @ MSU/Great Notch is HORRIBLE......

Any other advice anyone? EEENJ??

Your still joking right?

Seems like you have a huge bias favor of RT46 versus RT80.

yeah. OMG, YOU'RE JOKING, right? I have this huge conspiracy to get everyone to use 46 over 80 for my own personal gain. Please.

I lived for years going that route, so just givin' my 2 cents. Take it or leave it, but please, a BIAS? Gimme a break.
