Default more layoffs for my friends this is corporate!!

God, how much worse could it get for a married couple. She worked in IT for a big fashion house making 85k layed off month ago. He worked or Ingrasol Rand for over 10 years in tech fixing and programming linix and stuff like that. Just told good bye come March. This is terrible! I mean they together busted their butts for their two children, a home, worked hard , now its all gone. He is really shocked, I mean thats all he knew was I-R!!

This really sucks. I wish the layoffs would stop!! I mean this is two good people, I mean good people. Unlike me, I feel guilty. How many more jobs gone, layoffs, I mean this is not good.

It is everywhere unfortunately. My mom told me business has dropped about 45% for her, my brothers say the same thing, one has a business in Rhode Island, the other in South Carolina, a friend of ours who lives in Iowa and works in the financial industry says come Jan'09 we will see the full effect.

Sad news. They will get back on their feet quickly, I'm sure of it.

Come 1-12-09 we will all magically have jobs and singing kumbya, so it's all good.

wishful thinking hey??? I honestly think they are clueless right now. I think he is so used to being at I-R, and knows no other place that when he gets out their he is gonna have a real shock. Funny, he thinks his severance package will get him thru and is waiting for March so he can get the package. So he refused to look because he says he can't take another position now or he will lose that. My thinking is a little different , I have an inside to Seton Hall University and they are looking right now for someone who does what he does, so I gave him a contact name and said send your resume. He is not. Now this would have been a good place to work, my contact loves the computer stuff there and gets free college tuition for his kids!!! My friend still wont send it despite having two kids 5-9 years old. He wants that package. Hey I guess he thinks its gonna be easy to find something. I dont know?

I believe he should really re-think his position for the longer term. Especially since he has children.

I know, and the contact is my Brother in Law!!! So its like in the bag! He has the skills and I have the brother in law and this is my friend. However you can lead a horse to water!!!

Look I dont want to pressure anyone either. So if someone wants a good job at seton hall and is a computer software fixer and this programming stuff let me know. He told me (BILaw) looking for someone who knows windows op/system, lingix or somethiing like that and something else I forgot let me know.

It may get easier once the fourth quarter ends (budgets in place for the start of the new fiscal year), but he should be looking now. No doubt about it.

This economy is going to bottom out in 2009, God willing.

They were laying off at Goldman yesterday. My husband says people were crying, walking around in shock... And these are just regular IT people, just doing their jobs...
