Why would anyone want to move here? (Sussex: house, employment)

This state sucks. I could not imagine why would anyone want to move here.

My taxes just shot up $2100 from last year. We were re-assessed, 1st time since 99.

The Corruption in State politics is amongst the severest in the country. Theres more graft here than i have ever seen anywhere else I've lived, other than Chicago.

The traffic is getting worse every year, across the state.

There are little hidden state fees on all kinds of things.

You have to pay to get on the beaches.

Shore Traffic is the worst.

The state collect registration fees for ATV's but provides NO PLACE to ride. Where does that money go???

The cost of ownership on Boats is going to go up next year with the fee increases proposed.

I have listened to audio of State assembly meetings and heard outright lies and facts that were so twisted that it bordered on absurdity.

I have watched assemblymen vote for a bill simply because it was put in by another Democrat or Republican without even fully understanding its impacts.

Gun laws in this state are a country wide joke.

Hunting regs in this state are a country wide joke.

There is NO incentive what so ever at any state government level to facilitate a motorsports arena anywhere.

We just re-elected an 84 year old Senator. I dont know about you, but when I'm 84, I sure as shyt wont be working in a goverment position. Thats weird. This guy is so out of touch with reality it's not even funny.

Sussex county has a bear problem but the nitwits in trenton don think so, so its no big deal....unless you live in Sussex county.

I've about had it. Why the heck should I stay here?

Isn't it funny? I just got reassesed as well...it all went down.

Waiting for the tax rate on "property" to increase and make up for it!

Why?
The reason would be- if you are making money or saving money.
Family reasons or just geographic location.
I can't answer you the why for the other things.
If your main issue is $$ you will look elsewhere.
There are other corrupt places in the USA. You can't just move anywhere and say that won't be a reality.
Hunting and guns? There are many more lax places. I mean that is just a given.
You sound like a southern type and should look for more rural.

This is why my wife and I rarely leave the house

We got hiking several times a week close by (10 minute drive) at a place that is free and still allows dogs.

Most of my and my wife's immediate s all live within 3 miles of us.

I'd love to move to Vermont, or somewhere else as I can live ANYWHERE for my job, yet we settled in the most expensive county (or close to it) in the country!!!!

wildwood.. beautiful free beaches..... NJ motorsports park. NEW top notch racing facility.

move to a cheaper town where you taxes or not as high. Buy a small house, or rent. All together move out of state if you don't like whats going on. There is no use to get your blood pressure up, no one is holding a gun to your head. NJ is not a prison , your free to go. You can complain too but ultimately its your choice!! This is your first post to complain, then move. I did it, hated it and am stilled thrilled to be back in NJ. Go to PA, watch NASCAR reruns, Springer and hunt all you want. Even better, Western NC, you could set up your own first baptist church and have extremly low tax, living next to a trailer and a chicken coop. You could ride your atv till your heart is content. Then cook your vension on an open pit. Why don't you leave if you hate it so much. I could even suggest a few good places for atv, hunting and watching springer all day!!! Ohh and don't forget they have so much employment in those States with great high wages. You could get a double wide!!!

It's simple...don't stay.

We attempted to move back but found that the overall cost of living was too high for us. Plus there's no guarantee that wherever the cost is reasonable will stay that way. However instead of just coming on here and bashing the state, a state that I still happen to love, just go.
