my company is lowering their match from 6% to 4% as of Jan 2009

I must say that we here are very lucky to have 3 partners that look beyond the bottom line, all benefits still remain intact including the 401k match, all bonuses are still been paid out quaterly and they've even taken back a couple of people who called asking for their old jobs back, granted they cannot hire everyone back but those who have children have priorities.

Not entirely sure about that anymore....the US economy sucks and stuff that used to be at least safe isn't anymore
I'm leaning more towards CD's now the lousy 2% is better than losing $$$

Tahiti, you're a consultant correct?? You can open your own 401k just won't get any company match..all that $$$$ you save by not having to commute every day can go towards it.
