Default Maps & data for perspective NJ homeowners

I compiled some census data combined with local realtors and was able to make maps with the three themes (one which I made in an earlier post): median household income, average sale price, and combining these two, a "ratio" map, where the median household income is divided into the average sale price of homes in each zip code. There were a few "no values" for homes sold, I think about 10 zip codes, those are blank white in the last 2 maps. The 'green' means the ratio for income to house price is high, therefore representing less pressure on the homeowner: redder means the household income to average home sale price is more out of line.

The maps:

This service is provided principally for my NJ friends here! Glad you like them.

This one actually has a very practical application though, if you are considering moving to the Garden State. If Northern NJ is your desire, then it would seem as though towns such as Vernon, Highland Lakes, West Milford, and Augusta (all light green) give you the most bang for the buck. Hopatcong and Stanhope are two towns on the I-80 corridor that are also light green.

In contrast, southern NJ around Philly pretty much yields about 50% of it's municipalities light green, as I suspected. Completely different culture than Northern NJ, but definitely quality towns such as Mount Laurel, Cherry Hill, and Clarksboro (basically East Greenwich Twp) are affordable, relative to the median household income.

Good bang for your buck, but CRAPPY hospitals (only St. Clare's Sussex in area...trust me it's not where you want to be...one of my former clients! LOL!)

Can you tell I'm in benefits? LOL

you need to color code based upon income -vs- housing prices -vs- property taxes -vs- access to healthcare -vs- quality of school system -vs- job market. LOL

Throw crime into the mix as well, which is a statistic that can be measured quantitatively.

I'd love a similar statistic for schools, but subjectivity might encroach into the mix. The only hard statistic would be a test score, one that was universal. And it would have to be administered at the Elementary, Middle, and HS level. But if it could be made possible, I agree Tahiti, that would make for one fascinating map.
