Radon is an issue in many parts of NJ. The vast majority of the cases it is easily remedied. I wouldn't get too excited about it.

Ok, looking in some of the towns you all have mentioned and can definitely afford them. I'm looking in the up to $350K range. Hope that helps some.

Like I said, I don't want really high property taxes and am assuming they're lower down there. Hope so.

I wouldn't get "excited" either but I would test.......55% of tests in Woolwich are high with some numbers reaching as high as 20 times allowable guidelines. The higher the number the harder it is to remedy.....I know as I install about 150 radon mitigation systems a year. TEST !!!!

Ehh I doubt the property taxes will be any lower down here. Some of the towns are worse than others but pretty much anywhere in NJ has high taxes.

As far as MLS sites go - I haven't found one specifically for SJ. I used ziprealty.com when I was searching for homes and it is a really good site. It gives info on school districts, taxes, and homeowner association fees if applicable.

property taxes are varying in S Jersey. For example, in woolwich or mullica hill, taxes can be 6000 to 10000 a year. In swedesboro or logan, it can be 3000-5000. But keep in mind, you get what you pay for. The best schools are in the higher tax area (generally speaking of course).

I would look in Gloucester county unless you want more rural... then Salem county. Gloucester county is closer to bridges and malls like Deptford or stores in Delaware and Springfield, PA.

Good luck with the move.

Ok, if we want rural we would look in Salem county, right??

What towns are nice with nice homes in Salem, yet safe??

All of the towns you all gave me in Gloucester look great. Now if you can, please pass along some Salem towns.

Don't know much on Franklinville. The only town I like in Salem is woodstown. Parts of it are very rural

I'm in Williamstown, Willow Woods, the development is about 3 years old.

Taxes are a bit high like the rest of down here.
$350 will buy you a new 4 bedroom house with a 1/2 acre lot.

You asked about real estate sites, what type of home are you looking for new or used?
If you send me a M I can give you a list of sites I have typed up.

New or used doesn't matter to me as long as it's nice and a good area. Don't get me wrong, I'm not one that wants to take on a 100 year old farmhouse or anything like that. Not my cup of tea. I admire those that do though.

And I don't know how to do much of anything other than post on here . I don't even know what an "M" is. I can assume it's a message, but don't know for sure.

Not sure if Franklinville is in Salem county or one of the surrounding ones. I'm looking for other towns in Salem that people know are nice. The one, Williamstown, seems nice. Thanks for everyone's help. It's really getting me going in the right direction .
