NJ is a little more progressive and open minded than some other states of the union, only a Whitman type Republican would have a chance here. And with good reason, I may add.

Personally, I would consider voting Republican more if they were the Republican party of old... stressing fiscal responsibility but leaving personal issues alone.

I DO NOT believe that the Republican Party believes in the power of the individual...only CERTAIN individuals. THAT is a big problem I have with the current GOP, and I feel a LOT of New Jersians share my opinion. Perhaps not too many on this forum, but many in general as evidenced by our elections.
Agreed, mostly. That's why I really don't identify with a large segment of the GOP platform.

Tahiti,

Show me one Democrat that has favored a contraction of social programs, as a main segment of their platform. The only major political figure I can think of was Bill Clinton vintage 1996, who ran on Dick Morris 'triangulation' philosophy, reversing course from his over-reaching in 1993 and 94, resulting in the 104th congress. I really can't think of another one. Certainly not Corzine, McGreevey, etc.

I really don't view any of them as "running on" promises that social welfare is it and we are going to do more and more of it.

When it comes to HUMAN issues, I really don't see a problem with things like covering all children with health care, and I don't have a problem being taxed for it. I take great comfort knowing that if the economic situation gets worse it's there for MY children as well as everyone else's. I DO have a problem with some of the unions that are controlling our state, and neither party is going to do a blessed thing about that.

Hey Hoboken guy...time to pay up since your man got wacked, big time.

Tell you what. Don't send me the $20. Write a check out to

"Feed All God's Children, Inc. and mail it to 91 Siloam Road, Freehold, NJ 07728

This is a local soup kitchen that I support. WOW!!! A Republican helping the poor. You got that right.

Write a note and say that Mark from the bank asked you to do this.

Thanks
