I just made the best cake from scratch!!
Opps did not notice there is a cooking forum so mods move to proper spot sorry !!!! I just went a got a few meyers lemons and had all the ingredients to make a French Yogurt cake, with a meyers lemon lite syrup glaze for the top and let me just say I am becoming one damn good cook! Let me just say this looks damn good!!!!
I made an awesome sauerbraten last week, just cheated on the spatzel. I am finding ways to be productive when my days are slow. I am getting very domesticated and its really scarey. I just dont know what happened. I mean I even missed Project Object last week thats Ike Willis and some of the other Mothers of Invention. You really change after 40. I never would have believed it.
Gonna eat good tonight!

I'm not eating much lately, so I figured I'd eat some eggs, and throw in some ham/cheese. Ate the best tasting omelette I've ever made.
Used a little bit of olive oil to coat the pan, beat three eggs, used Boar's Head honey maple ham (about a slice and a half, torn up), and about 3 slices of Boar's Head smoked gruyere. When it was done, I topped the egg with a melted slice of cheese.

With at least 2 good cooks here (and prob. a few others in the woodwork), we may just have to invite ourselves over for Thanksgiving, let us know where and when ;-)

Well, I had to go grocery shopping after work (it was almost 9, so I didn't feel like buying a whole bunch of stuff for one meal), and I've been wanting omelettes lately. I'm sure it's stress related (various reasons...a big one right now is figuring out how I'm gonna pay for my tuition next semester )...but I go through weird bouts where I don't eat much. Anyway, I was just gonna get the ham, and an imported swiss, when I thought smoked gruyere might be good...so I bought it and gave it a shot.
I think it only cost me about 1.50 ish to make the food..and that was enough food.

I don't think I've ever tried homemade pumpkin pie (and I've never ever had french yogurt cake).
You should definitely try the omelette that way...it's a reasonable price to make, filling, and tasty. The sweetness of the honey maple ham and the nutty/smokey/sweetness of the smoked gruyere make a nice balance that compliment each other and the egg.
I'll definitely be keeping this recipe.

Let's have a THROW DOWN!!! No, I bet your pumpkin pie is better, to be honest this cake is kinda easy. However I have been getting really good at cooking. I have meats down, I can just smell a spice and say yes or no. I was never a dessert /pastery baker so now I am tackling different things. I do have a few rules , must be pretty much scratch, no box except flour and sugar.
YOu want to know the only thing I can't really make is good gravy/sauce tomato. I just dont got that Italian Lidia flair. Not in my genes!!! Its probably pretty easy but I just am not a good Italian cook.
Last year I cooked a maple glazed sage turkey and it was a huge hit!!!
Keep cooking!!

My specialty is cheese cake without graham cracker crust, I use lady fingers and specialty cookies, I make chocolate chip shortbread sticks dipped in chocolate, cream cheese cookies which are rolled, I fill them with nuts & apricot or raspberry. I also make a mean peanut butter cookie.
Regular foods -
stuffed shells - used to make my own sauce too
stuffing - those Hungarian peppers are the secret ingredient
meat loaf - yes meat loaf lol
Spare ribs
Breaded pork chops
Hungarian chicken paprika
hubby makes the best gravies (turkey, chicken)
I used to have a recipe for a pistachio cake. No clue where it went to. Our old neighbor in Roselle gave it to me when I was a teen.
Oh - rice krispie treats!
