Default Commuting from Ringwood NJ to South Ferry

Hi All,

My commute is from Ringwood NJ to the South Ferry.

There's a Ringwood bus that goes to the Port Authority but then I need to take two subways to reach my building. Takes forever and is hot and crowded.

I've tried driving to Jersey City and taking the PATH, but traffic on Tonnell Ave is horrible.

I'd like to try driving to Harrison, seems like a better ride as it's right off 280, but the PATH site says parking around Harrison is limited these days. Is that true?

Also, does anyone know of any buses from NJ that go straight downtown to my area? I don't mind driving to get to them as long as they have a park and ride.

Thank you for your insight, I've been struggling with this for months.

(PS I posted a similar question at the end of another thread, sorry about that.)

Hi, I grew up in Ringwood. I have only ever heard of buses going downtown from Middlesex County & south. I don't know of any from north Jersey. My parents, who still live in Ringwood, always drive to Weehawken & take the ferry to get to the city. You will still hit traffic to Weehawken, but at least the ferry will be comfortable & pleasant.

Hi there former neighbor, thank you. There is a park and ride at the ferry? Do you know by chance what their total commuting time is? Right now mine is two hours if all goes smoothly.

Thanks again.

My parents don't work in the city - they just take the ferry if they are going in for a show or something. With no traffic, it's around 45 minutes to get to the ferry terminal. If you're going during rush hour, though, it will likely take longer. There is a parking lot at the ferry terminal. Check out the website for costs & transit time: www.nywaterway.com
