Moving to Mullica Hill, Swedesboro - PLEASE HELP
Hi Everyone,
I might take a doctor job close to the Swedesboro / Mullica Hill area but I am not sure if I want to move there. I currently live outside of NYC where I have a small home, easy access to the city, a deli to get a nice saturday breakfast, a starbucks just a mile away, Target, Walmart, grocery stores and all the little life conveniences.
I looked at the google map and I see that both of those cities are located in the middle of farm fields, and I am not sure I am ready to shift my life that much. I will be visiting there in a month, but for the time being I have a BUNCH of questions so if anyone can answer any of them I would be greatly helpful.
1. Are there any good daycares there? I have a 2 year old daughter and want to make sure that there is something solid and close by.
2. How close are those places to Philly? Does it feel like I am going to live in a small town, or will I feel that I am an attached suburb to Philadelphia?
3. What are the adjacent cities there like? Is it fun to go to the other small cities or are they crime ridden?
4. How easy / close is it to get to starbucks (or any other cafe), Target, Walmart, Borders, Barnes and Noble?
5. Any gyms around there?
6. Any hiking, state parks?
7. Whats life like there in general? I know this is vague but let me know what you think, like, DISLIKE...
This is a huge decision for my family and I want to make sure that we wont spend a huge amount of time and money doing the move only to find out that its not for us... I've lived all over the U.S., mostly in suburbs of good size cities and I've always been attached to them for the weekend fun.
I would love to hear from you what the life is like there.
Sincerely,
Filip

Mullica Hill is a quaint town in Gloucester County, NJ which is suburb of Philly - though it is not real close. You will find everything you are looking for either nearby or within a reasonable drive. That area has been developing rapidly over the past 15 years and it is considered desirable. It does have an agricultural feel, that's part of the charm to the area. There are private schools in the area as well, though the public schools are good. Taxes are high. Good place to live or relocate to, but judge for yourself when you visit.
If you decide you want more going on around you, look in Burlington and Camden counties - Marlton, Medford, Moorestown, Haddonfield, Cherry Hill, Mount Laurel. You can commute to Mullica Hill, all those towns have fairly easy access to 295 south.

Thank you VERY much for your feedback. I am actually going to have to work in satellite offices as well, one in Salem and one in Elmer so it seems like Swedesboro and Mullica Hill are probably going to be easier and closer to commute from. I am planning on visiting that region and doing some driving to get a feel of what its like to live there. The recommendations you gave me are fantastic and i will explore those regions as well. The only thing is that they are a bit further from the satelie hospitals (sorry I should have mentioned that earlier). If you do have any other recommendations a bit more west of those cities I would appreciate your feedback.
Thank you again for all of your comments! Is it safe to say that going to Philly from Mullica and Swedesboro would be around 30 minutes? I also hear that Camden is a very dangerous area (never been there). Is that the case where portion of Camden still has high crime rates but further out is where the nice suburbs are?
Thanks!

Radon gas is a severe problem in Woolwich, Swedesboro and Mullica Hill, with some readings 15 to 20 times higher than allowable limits and 55% of tests over DEP guidelines in Woolwich. Its generally simple to correct but you should definitely test any home you intend to purchase.

From Mullica Hill, probably 35-40 minutes to Philly. Swedesboro is in Woolwich Twp, another desirable area. I suggest sticking to those areas and checking out Pitman and Sewell which might have more amenities. All of these areas are in Gloucester County.
Welcome to Woolwich Township, NJ: Official Municipal Website
The city of camden is crime ridden and in camden county, but the rest of camden county is very desirable. Camden does not intrude on the rest of the county, it's isolated and has more in common with parts of Philly. But if you need to be near Elmer, which is in Salem County, I suggest sticking to the areas mentioned in Gloucester County since you'll be asking for a longer commute as you indicated.

Mullica Hill
Hello!! I, like spaceghost am considering re-locating to Mullica Hill. My wIfe and I are coming from Brick, NJ. Both of us have lived in the midwest and love the farm and rural settings of Mullica Hill. The main reason for the move is getting my wife closer to Wilmington, DE, where she commutes. I in turn would be driving to Trenton each day, expanding my commute to 1 hour each way to work. Is there another nice town that would put me closer to Trenton yet leave my wife less than 45 minutes to Wilmington? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

You should look closer to the heart of SJ in Camden County - Haddonfield, Cherry Hill, Voorhees. That would put you in the middle of Trenton and Wilmington with each less than an hour. You can also try Medford in Burlington County which is closer in feel to Mullica Hill than the others.

Mullica Hill and Area
I too am looking into Mulica Hill to relocate. It's a beautiful area! The only problem I have is that I need to drive to Trenton for work. Thats about an hours drive to and from. I'd like to get it down to 40 minutes if possible. Can anyone suggest other nice towns down that way. We're moving from Brick, NJ and are not to familiar wioth the area. Any suggestions would be great.

I live in Woolwich and travel to Salem each day. The drive is very nice, no traffic at all, all you pass by is farm upon farm. Mullica Hill is a beautiful town, however I would search our local paper, courierpostonline.com because Mullica Hill is currently going through some road reorganization. The biggest complaint I hear from people who live there is the summer traffic. Mullica Hill is located along 322 which runs directly to the shore. On Friday's, the traffic is a nightmare. Woodstown is another beautiful town that you should look into. Simbaniz, I will check out the distances from Trenton and Wilmington for you and see if I can find some good towns. Stay away from the city of Camden! Like it was said before, Camden is very isolated, and most other towns in Camden County are just fine. If you are looking rural, Gloucester and Salem Counties are your best bet.

I vote for Woolwich. It has access to 295 and the NJ turnpike plus the bridge to PA. It's close to Deptford or Delaware for Malls, dining places, etc. They are building a town center which will have shops soon.
