There have been several posts from J1 and other visa holders looking for place to work/live once they come to the US. I just have to say it - please, please be VERY CAREFUL!!! You'll find plenty of people here who want to help you BUT there are plenty of those who just want to take your money or worse. I don't want to scare anyone but please use your common sense - if something sounds too good to be true - it probably is. Don't send any money upfront, don't visit people's homes if you don't know who they are. These forums are anonymous, while you can get a great advice here you don't really know who you are getting it from.
Please be careful. (If I sound like your mother that's probably because I am a mother and I am worried for all the kids out there)
