OB Referral Near Millburn, NJ (Union, Cranford: live, floor, nurses)

Can anyone recommend a good OB near Millburn, NJ? I'd prefer a female doctor but that's not a necessity and would prefer if she/has a midwife associated with the practice as well. Prefer NOT to deliver at St. Barnabas due to the high C-section rate and since they mandate baby spend a night in nursery. Looking for a doctor who is kind, caring, spends some time with you but will listen to your wishes. I want minimal intervention, although I probably would get an epidural once I was at least 6 cm dilated. Thanks! Due late May/early June.

Dr. Blum in Mountainside is associated with Overlook Hosp. in Summit. We have used him for years.

Alyssa Kaye in Cranford also delivers at Overlook and is great.

She's in practice with her dad, who is also great...but I too wanted a female OB so I was thrilled to find AK after Mary Ann Huhn-Werner went out of the OB part of OB/GYN business.

I had a baby there two years ago and it was lovely. Baby was with me almost all the time - completely under my control when he was with me or not. You get a free postpartum massage during your stay. Nurses were great. I've had not so great experiences at Overlook too - but the OB floor was fabulous!

I did have a c/s but that was because it was my second baby (first was a breech c/s with a different doc). Dr. Kaye was supporting my VBAC attempt, but because the baby was so big, we decided not to wait past my due date. Good thing too - he was just under 10 lbs.

Dr. Russell Hoffman in Summit, NJ is and extraordinary doctor. Very compassionate and kind, calm, and supportive of the mother's wishes (delivered my two daughters). He is also at Overlook.

Dr. Hoffman is having a midwife join him in his private practice. The website is www.mymidwifecares.com. I think she is the only midwife delivering in Union County.
