Maybe but this falls under discrimination - they could get sued. I wouldn't mess with Shoprite though... could end up with a horse head in your bed or end up swimming with the fishes!

I don't know. Doing that just gave them more attention and, in a way, some power ?? After all, look at the attention it is getting. I suppose concern would grow if a large number followed suit with other names up there with Hitler.

It's a thin line but I think this is exactly what the parents are up to..lawsuit.

I read in one of the articles this is the 3rd time Shop rite refused, don't know if that is true but if it is I'm sure the parents made sure it received media attention for the potential lawsuit..all though I can't fathom what lawyer would take their case...I'm sure there is a shark out there that would even just for a settlement

They're a private business. They can exercise that option. It wouldn't hold up in court.

I remember working at A&P, and a fellow cashier was getting absolutely crucified by an irate customer, about coupons, the amount that should be discounted, the brand in the coupon, etc, I mean, every single transaction. After about 10 minutes, the store manager intervened and told her to leave the store, and said A&P didn't want her business. He threatened to call the police.

Shop Rite has every right and authority to refuse service to this scumbag.

Still a thin line Mike. In your instance above an employee was being harassed and unfortunately today so many frivilous lawsuits are brought forth it's almost cheaper for a company to just settle out of court

I read that for the racists to have any semblance of a case Shop Rite has to make reasonable accommodations - and they offered to give them enough space to inscribe the cake anyway they wanted.

I agree though that this is ploy to extort money.

WTF And if there is any doubt in this story , click the link below, and look at the charming pictures of this New Jersey resident and his collection of Nazi memorabilia, and copy's of their children's birth certificates.

You know the parents only did this so they could make a big stink.

Someone needs to beat the crap out of these idiots.

Holland Township family angry that supermarket won't personalize cake for their son - The Express-Times | Lehigh Valley PA Newspaper - lehighvalleylive.com

I saw this yesterday as well and all I thought of is that other countries are a LOT smarter than ours - they can BAN people from naming their children like this.

DISGUSTING.
