...WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM LATE TONIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY EVENING...
A WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM LATE TONIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY EVENING.
THERE REMAINS AN INCREASED POTENTIAL FOR A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF SNOW FRIDAY INTO FRIDAY NIGHT. SNOW SHOULD ARRIVE TOWARD DAYBREAK ON FRIDAY FROM WEST TO EAST. WARMER AIR MOVING IN ALOFT IS EXPECTED TO ALLOW THE SNOW TO MIX WITH SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN WITH SOME AREAS POSSIBLY SEEING A COMPLETE CHANGE OVER TO SLEET OR FREEZING RAIN. THIS IS MORE LIKELY TO OCCUR IN THE LEHIGH VALLEY AND ALONG THE INTERSTATE 80 CORRIDOR, WHICH WOULD HOLD DOWN THE SNOW ACCUMULATIONS. THE HEAVIEST PRECIPITATION SHOULD TAPER OFF BY EARLY FRIDAY EVENING. THE FRIDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING COMMUTES WILL BE GREATLY IMPACTED.
SNOW AND SLEET ACCUMULATIONS OF 6 TO 10 INCHES WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE OVER THE HIGHER TERRAIN ARE ANTICIPATED AT THIS TIME. PORTIONS OF THE LEHIGH VALLEY SHOULD HAVE LESSER AMOUNTS AS MIXING IS EXPECTED WITH EVEN A CHANGEOVER TO SOME FREEZING RAIN.
THIS HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BE THE MOST WIDESPREAD AND DISRUPTIVE WINTER STORM OF THE SEASON SO FAR. THEREFORE, USE TODAY TO MAKE THE NECESSARY PREPARATIONS FOR THIS UPCOMING WINTER STORM.
A WINTER STORM WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT SNOW, SLEET, OR ICE ACCUMULATIONS THAT MAY IMPACT TRAVEL. CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE LATEST FORECASTS.
