Broadway Closings
So I knew things were bad and that a bunch of shows are closing, but today I read in the Post that Mary Poppins, The Little Mermaid, Shrek, and Avenue Q are also in trouble. This is so disappointing, as I was looking forward to taking my daughter to the first two when she gets a little older.
Anyone else sad about what's happening?

shrek just opened a few weeks ago. Maybe it's just not getting the ticket sales?

I guess not--that seemed weird to me, too.

We were also thinking of taking all the kids to a B'way show, way too pricey, transport, tickets, meals..
Wouldn't you think the theatres would lower their prices, a bit, to keep everyone employed and entertained?

They do - in the end. These days it's rare to pay full price for theatre tickets - usually I can find up to 40% off in advance, and 50% off for same day tickets.

I agree.. if you want good seats they are about $75 each plus all other expenses it turns out to be a $200-300 ordeal

Disney is running promotions right now on MP and TLM--tickets are a good bit cheaper. Plus, my husband goes by the TKTS booth in Brooklyn a couple times a week, and he said there are tickets available for everything. It still is a pricey day out for a family of four, but not as bad as usual.
