Default Commute to Port Authority from Old Bridge, NJ

I am closing very soon on a property in Yardley Manor which is located in Old Bridge, NJ. Can someone please tell me which is the best method of transportation? Is it Academy Bus, NJ Transit or train from Matawan or anthing else? The Academy Bus seems to get in quick (45 minutes?)? Wondering how much on schedule they really are. Thanks in advance to all for your help!

If you're looking to go to the Port Authority, I'd recommend taking the NJ transit 135 bus. It goes from the GSP Exit 120 Park and Ride in Old Bridge straight to the Port Authority. Costs $222/month. The Academy bus costs $255 a month, leaves from the Cheesequake Rest Area (I think you'd want to take the Parkway Express bus). The NJ transit trains stop at Penn Station.

For the most part, I agree with DMHNY.

There is a train stop in Matawan (which is right near where you'll be living), because Yardley Manor is right off of Route 516 and Morganville Rd.

Thousands of people commute from Old Bridge, Matawan, South Amboy and all the surrounding towns daily so you'll be in good company.

Congrats on your new home!

All the best,

Only problem with the train from Matawan is that it's impossible to get a parking permit for the train station - but it's a good solution if you have a ride to the station.

If you run into this problem, try the using the train station in South Amboy. It may add 5 minutes to your commute to the actual train, but it should also speed up your commute to the city by 10-12 minutes.

Best of luck!

It's possible to get a private parking spot for the matawan train station. Look on craigslist or just drive down to the train station and look around at some of the private lots.

Agree with ambernoble. I was considering the train from S. Amboy. They have daily parking for non-permit holders, I think it's $3 a day. S.Amboy is also building a huge tnew train station, whcih is supposed to include a 1000 car parking garage. I put myself on the waiting list for a parking permit, was told it could be years before they call me since I'm a non-resident. But if you're leaving around 630-ish, you should be able to get a parking spot there.

Thank you so much for the information! How long is the ride and do they pretty much ride on schedule?

The earliest I can drop off my daughter at school is 7:30 am. That leaves me with arriving at the station about 7:45 am. Am I out of luck with a parking spot??

Default NYC Commute

I am moving to yardly manor within 2months. There is a bus route on 516 to nyc which takes 1.10min as per their schedule.

I would like to know about GSP Exit 120 Park and Ride. Is it not very easy to get parking in rush hour? How about Cheesequake Rest Area?
