Default Moving to NJ- where to live around Princeton?

Hello all! I am delighted to say I am moving back to NJ! I grew up in Monmouth County, and am thrilled to finally be moving back after a decade away.

I know NJ will cost us a lot more than we currently pay in Atlanta, GA for our home. We are looking for something within an hour of Princeton in the 300k range. We are ideally looking for starter home communities, and are coming up empty-handed. Would we have better luck if we looked in Bucks County, PA?

Thanks so much for your help.

Jenna

Hi Jenna:

Welcome home!

If you want to be within 30 mins of Princeton in the $300K range, you may want to consider towns such as Monroe, Old Bridge, Sayreville, Parlin and Freehold Township.

What size home do you need?

Are there children in the home that will need to attend school?

Is driving to work your mode of transportation or will you take the bus or train?

Know this type of info can be helpful in to aid you in pinpointing possible towns of interest.

Looking forward to your followup,

Hi Jenna,

Within an hour of Princeton with a $300k budget, I'd recommend looking south along I-295. We owned a home in Eastampton, Burlington County. It was a bout 1 hour, maybe a little less to Princeton. Nice little town, not a bad commute. You'll get more bang for your buck looking south of Trenton than you will north. Not too sure about Bucks Co. Beautiful area, but the affordable areas (southeast Bucks) aren't that great.

OP, look a little north even. You can find many homes in the under $300K range. Try Somerset County as well.

And welcome home.

Welcome Home!!!

Definitely, Sayreville, South Amboy, Woodbridge Nj, Going North gives you many advantages.

The closer you are north the stronger the home values.

This is statistical fact based on proximity to NYC.

Hope this helps..................

To the realtor, hey relax they just came home..;-)

Getting to Princeton from South Amboy, Sayreville or Woodbridge in rush hour is no guarantee, especially in bad weather or if there's an accident. I'd say Ewing, South Brunswick, Hamilton or West Windsor.
