Sj3, you beat me to the punch about the East Windsor schools. A colleague of mine at work lives in East Windsor and has two small children about to start school, so he and his wife are moving to West Windsor. Only for the school system!

I live in west windsor but have friends in east windsor with kids in the school system and they are doing fine.If you do a search on realtor.com for homes in east windsor in your price range I am sure you will find something. It may be small and in need of work but you said you did not mind that. going further south into Burlington county might be an option the further south you go the cheaper the housing. Check out Bordentown it is a nice old town.It may be an idea to rent somewhere until you decide where you want to live. There is a planned community of apartments and townhouses in East windsor near Hightstown called twin rivers it has parks and pools you can buy or rent there. good luck what ever you decide.

Hello,
One of the posters mentioned Hamilton which is where I live. He said parts of Hamilton are not safe and that you should stick with Hamilton Township. He is partly right. It's all about how close you get to Trenton. Let me make this easier for you. I'll give you the zipcode in which to look at housing. This zipcode will give you the safest town I have ever visited or ever will live probably. My in-laws have lived there their entire lives. It is Hamilton Township and the zipcode is 08690. Everything is within driving-walking distance. Awesome schools, low crime. Two parks are nearby (Veteran's Park and Mercer Park). The pricing however is what will get you. I have been checking out pricing for a long time and I'll tell you what you can get. Every once in a while you can get a small fixer upper house in the $250,000 range, but more likely even the small fixer uppers will be about $275,000. I think that you can actually find a home within your price range since you are not "allergic" to home improvement. Hamilton Township is about a 20 minute drive to East Windsor. Just go to realtor.com or remax.com and type in this zipcode and the price range you want to stick with. Yes, the taxes will be high, but that is what you are going to find anywhere in New Jersey. |
