Well, my side didn't burn - but we have severe smoke/water damage as a result of the fire and water from the firefighters (took 18 firefighters 15 minutes to contain the fire on my neighbors side - her side is completely wrecked and charred. Even her ceiling fan melted. The fire started in her closet. She [neighbor] said she had tried to put a light bulb in a few days prior, and the bulb exploded in her hand - she didn't try again. My landlord also installed a hot water heater [her side], because he didn't want to pay the plumber the 2k that they wanted. Landlord had an "electrician" [I wasn't home] come and "update" the circuits, but it's hard to say if the electrician was certified, so my landlord may not even have permits to pull. Plus, according to someone I spoke to, he was supposed to have some sort of electrician/inspector come in and check the job that the previous electrician did, to make sure the house wasn't overloaded. If it's electric, my landlord is in a tub full of trouble.)

Yeah...it's 57 today, and she's bundled up, and I have the door open [separate room] - because I'm hot.
Mom is considering a move out of the state in the near future, though.

My mother also wanted to get away from her ragweed related hayfever but now she's alergic to the olive trees on her property.
If the damage is the landlord's fault, hopefully you'll have some recourse.

That's part of the reason we left Michigan, actually.

I can see her point as well. Probably the single greatest deterrent for me to ever move back to NJ is the weather, enduring it from October to the end of March. I find it to be a pointless exercise.

My mom's growing tired of the brutal summers, the "FL" way of life, a lot of the people (whoever said New Jerseyans were rude obviously hasn't spent much time in FL - when you get away from all of the touristy people, there are some major shisters here - such as landlords not wanting to fix anything at all - and being able to get away with it, amongst other things [out of the 2 landlords we've had since we've lived here, both have been horrible. This past landlord, is a really nice guy. Landlord wise? Not so much]). I think if NJ didn't get cold, she'd move with me in a heartbeat.

There's plenty of pizza here..............if you consider Papa John's and Dominoes as pizza.

All this time I thought it was a Jersey thing when really it was just a local thing.
