Back in the 50's my parents would take my sister and I to Asbury Park every week-end.

I've been to Twin Lights but if you go to the Hook and drive as far as you can, you'll come to a parking lot and the old Army post is open (some buildings) to the public. There are tours of the lighthouse unless they've changed things recently. The Army Post/beach were open as fsr back as 2000. Again, things might have changed.

Also there's a privately owned bar opened to the public within a half mile of the entrance to Sandy Hook.

I miss the Silver ball. It was an arcade in North Bergen that my parents used to take us when we were little. I used to love playing ******* and burgertime.

You must be talking about the Seagulls Nest. I think that opened in 1985. I do know some of those Captains quarters are open for tours but I dont remember ever seeing a Lighthouse out there. Hmmmmm

I spent many a Sunday afeternoon at the Seagull's nest during the summer, lot of nice sights. They used to play the National Anthem every evening at Sundown.

The Lighthouse is near the quarters that are opened. There are tours but I forget how often they're scheduled.

I miss the fact that my kids don't run around outside for hours on end like we did. I miss the fact that we didn't lock our doors. I miss the fact that you could get to a place five minutes away, in five minutes, not be stuck in 20 minute traffic to go 2 blocks. Other than that, I miss most of what we had when I was a kid. The Channel Lumber store instead of Drug Fair that I walked to with my dad...and the Carvel shop next door where he'd get me ice cream! The local movie theater they took away to replace with a huge, ridiculous, confusing complex in Clifton. I miss the old roller skating rink at Willowbrook Mall, I think it was called US Skates. I miss Bradlees because they always had better stuff than KMart did lol, and Kohls and Target (especially Target) are rip-offs. I remember when Macy's was Bambergers because I'd always go there with my mom and grandmother. I'll be back when I think of more!

Same vague memory here. I refused to go on the worlds largest all wooden roller coaster but my brother and Dad did

But my madness comes when I think of what became of both Palsades Park and Bertrands island. Same thing. Condos. Big ugly monstrosities that are nothing more then human filing cabinets. Damn those Builders.

The old Rickles in Menlo Park. It was the only place open on Sundays if something broke in your house. Well Two Guys were open Sundays too but they had all the appliances partitioned off with rolls of cardboard.

Oh yes, nothing was open on Sundays.......just about nothing.
So we would head from Denville, all the way up to Stanhope to the Economy store which for some reason would be open on that day.
Either that or it was head to NY City.........I had forgotten.
