I know they are not considered a hangun because a hangun is a type
of firearm which "means any device designed, made, or
adapted to expel a projectile through a barrel by using the energy
generated by an explosion or burning substance or any device
readily convertible to that use. Firearm does not include a firearm
that may have, as an integral part, a folding knife blade or other
characteristics of weapons made illegal by this chapter and that
isA) an antique or curio firearm manufactured
before 1899; or
(B) a replica of an antique or curio firearm
manufactured before 1899, but only if the replica does not use rim
fire or center fire ammunition."

(5) "Handgun" means any firearm that is designed,
made, or adapted to be fired with one hand.

I was just wondering if anyone could tell me if it would be legal to
carry a blank firing gun out of view in my car. I am 18 and do not have any previous charges for anything.

I am in a similar quandary. I'm an indie filmmaker and need a gun to use as a base for a prop. While my budget doesn't allow for the suped-up special fx that could easily solve this problem, I am able to buy a certain blank-firing gun I found online. I'm in northern New Jersey and it's important for me to find out what I can do exactly. In other words, help me, please!

NJ is not the state to "I made a mistake" with regards to firearm laws. I would speak to an attorney.

This guy is one of the best for that it seems.

Default A firearm or not

as I understand the law a weapon that 'fires' a projectical, being a bullet or BB gun, is a firearm. Now under that discription a 'blank' firing device cannot be a firearm as defined by law. But, anything that can be mistaken for a 'weapon' or 'firearm' places the holder in a very BAD position. A citizen believing a blank firing device 'is' a gun can so report seeing a person with a gun. Now, if approached by the police and they see the 'weapon' the holder can be in serious trouble or 'get shot' by the police.....
Now, is it worth having a 'blank' firing device in ones car ????
p.s. I am a retired police officer................

Why not just buy an airsoft gun at Dick's Sporting Goods, repaint, and then add sound F/X in post production?

Call your local police department or State police barracks.
