Info About Perth Amboy Please...
My husband and I are interested in finding out how much Perth Amboy has changed in the last few years.
We understand that South Amboy is wonderful now...but does Perth Amboy have a train station as well and what are the property taxes for the most part?
Does it have a nice part of town that has been revamped at all?
Thanks for any and all help.
P.

I think there is a train that runs through Perth Amboy. I haven't been down in at least 2 years, maybe 3, but when I was last there it didn't seem too bad. it's just very blue collar and seems a lil rough around the edges. but yeah, south amboy is way nicer.

The Perth Amboy waterfront is turning out to be really nice. There's two brand new buildings called The Landings that offer condos and townhomes. They are right on the water, most with water view, are reasonably priced, and Perth Amboy is building a new marina with a ferry to NYC. The town itself still needs some more revitalization, but like I said, there are plenty of good waterfront condo and townhome options.

I’m pretty familiar with Perth Amboy and, IMHO, it is one of the few cities in New Jersey that has actually improved over the past 10 years. It has a train line and buses that go to New York, and, as previously stated, the waterfront is the most ideal section of town and is really beautiful in some parts. That being said, the waterfront is not cheap – even in this housing market. Also, the town is predominantly Dominican and Puerto Rican. If you’re not either, you could feel a bit isolated. That being said, I think it’s a very underrated choice for a single professional or a new couple just starting out. Sidenote: I don’t know if I’d go so far as to categorize South Amboy as “wonderful.” Like PA, it has improved, but “wonderful” may be a bit of an overstatement. Good luck!

I am interested in learning more about PA too. I know there are different "sections" but I am not clear where the areas are within Perth Amboy.
