Atlantic city, nj
THere is a lack of discussion on this city! Beach, casinos, what more could you ask for?
The good, the bad or the ugly...let's hear it

I rented a bike to ride on the boardwalk 2 weekends back and noticed the boardwalk is being expanded way past the showboat because of that new casino in construction. Looks like it could be the biggest casino in AC. There are quite a few ocean front houses for sell in Margate,Ventnor. You couldn't tell there's a recession going on with the croud u see on the weekend. It seems over half of visitors are from out of state.

AC is better for me than it used to be. Last time that I went there, in warmer weather, I took the train and walked over to Caesars. You can do that now. Atlantic City Outlets The Walk - Shopping at the foot of the Atlantic City Expressway Stopped by The Pier Shops. Went out to the beach bar and had a drink; entertainment was just starting as I left. There was a group having what looked like a birthday party on the beach nearby. Before going back over to the train went to have a look at the Fountain of Light in Brighton Park. We were early for the train back and had a bite to eat in a pub while we waited. We did wander in and out of a few casino's and throw a few dollars at the gambling. It wasn't the reason that I went.

I went to AC last March to see a show. The Tropicana was beautifully redone. I didn't go into any of the other casinos. The boardwalk was kinda shady...but not too bad.
They get some great acts in AC. I am not much of a gambler so gambling is not the draw for me.

Last time I was in Atlantic City with friends, we left one casino and walked outside to head to another when we were approached by a hooker-
It seems as though this once nice area has taken a turn for the raunchy and outside the casinos, it's slightly not-so-nice to be nice. There's plentiful of hookers, drugs, slum areas. The area makes its money off tourists and their spending ... I suppose if you can't afford Vegas, Foxwoods Resorts, or Mohegan Sun than Atlantic City may be the next best thing, but personally, I wouldn't go near there.
As for the beach, careful walking barefoot. You wouldn't want to get stabbed with a hypodermic needle. It's like Asbury Park. I keep hearing how the area is going to turnover, and I'm still waiting to see that ... Maybe in 5 years from now. But, not right immediate now.
PS: This is coming from a East Hampton, Fire Island, Pt Pleasant type of girl ...

I like the Borgata! I saw my boy Harry Connick there in Dec. He was awesome. It's beautifully decorated at CHristmas time!!!
We aren't much of gamblers either........One of my husband's coworkers actually won 30k down there and LOST the same 30k the next evening. Omg, I would die.

I'll share some boardwalk stories.
Once this big lady, drug user/hooker kept asking me for change while im sitting on a bench, i said no leave me alone, she asked whats wrong, i said dont worry about it, she turned into a jesus freak and offered to pray with me, i said get out of here, then she said something ignorant n left.
An asian foreigner was begging on the boardwalk saying he's hungry, he probably gambled all his money.
U always have the leg-less/ wheelchair people holding signs with a cup.
Once i got fries and a big bird came down and grabbed a couple spiling my fries.
I read there's an estimated 500 homeless people in AC AC also attracts other homeless people from south jersey because they have a big salvation army shelter or something like that I knew a couple ppl who stayed there.

I like the Borgata also when it first opened. I met Jon Bon Jovi there as well as Tino Martinez and Paul O'Neil. That was when it first opened - But I wouldnt' go back now. Don't get me wrong, the casinos are nice, but that's about all that is nice.
