I agree people in NJ have no idea what pizza is until they tasted Staten Island pizza, yet NJ residents continue to think they are they pizza capital of the US.

Tree Tavern Pizza is still around? My mom used to give that to us when we were little tikes!

I didn't vote, cause' we do all 3. If it has to be frozen (we keep a stack in the freezer for quick snacks), we go with DiGiorno's. If we're ordering chain pizza at home, we use Domino's, Papa John's and then Pizza Hut in that order based on delivery taste. PH is always crap by the time they deliver it. It's not bad if you pick it up or eat it there. I do like to get their Chicken pasta dish for carryout.

If my DS and I are out running around, we'll grab a Little Caesars "hot and ready" pie to eat on the fly. It's only $8 with two sodas.

But, we do miss the good ol' NJ pizza shops. Our favorite was Pat's Pizza in Pt Pleasant (mmmm cheesesteaks). Next was Vesuvio's also in Pt Pleasant. I used to really like Ci Ci's (not the chain) on the boardwalk in Pt Pleasant Beach. You couldn't go wrong eating at any of those three places.

JerseyCity201 is on a distinguished road
Anyone ever eat the pizza at Lido's in Hackensack? Also did anyone ever notice how the further you get from the north east the more there are people that never heard of a pizza pie? I remember ordering a pizza in Florida and ordering a large pie, the guy on the phone then tells me "we dont sell pie here this is a pizzeria." Almost all the pizza places I have ever tried outside the NJ/NY area cant make good pizza. I guess thats why the rest of the country eats from chains more then in this area.

There are good pizzerias in New Jersey but they are needle in a haystack.

I have been around the country and encountered NJ people out of state, bragging how they miss their "Jersey pizza" back home. When I ask them where they get their pizza from they tell me something between the late night New Brunswick joints, the boardwalk, or Yokel Bob's down the street that serves it covered in American cheese with a cornmeal crust as thick as Jared Fogel pre-subway diet.

There are several factors: the dough in NY tends to be better because of the water and the fact that NY pizzerias less frequently use cornmeal than NJ pizzerias. SI on average is far more closer to the real Napolitan pizza than NJ is. Not even close.

If you are looking for dripping plain cheese pizza, save yourself the gas and walk to your nearest joint. Im sure it will fill you up and leave you with a stomachache for the following day.

So cornmeal is what they're using to wreck the pizza here? Is that the problem with the bread as well? I now take orders for bread and pizza when I go back to Brooklyn.
