Default Job opportunity in Lakehurst, NJ

I have an opportunity at NAES Lakehurst. I did some research on this site realized that I have little options for living in the immediate area. My primary concern is a solid elementary school and local economy. Over the years I have been spoiled by a very short commute (5-15), but not realize that I will have to be open to a longer drive.
Considering Farmingdale, Freehold, Lakewood

We lived in Lakehurst for 5 years while my husband was stationed at the base. You are so right, not a lot to look at as far as homes there but there are a few nice ones in the "downtown" area. The school does not rate well on greatschools but from our first hand experience, it really IS a good school. At least that was OUR experience.
Lakewood is getting to have a pretty bad gang problem. I'd stay the heck away from there. I'd say an EXCELLENT area to look at, for working at Lakehurst & good schools would be most any part of Manchester & most of Toms River.
Good luck! NAES Lakehurst is really growing again & it's a good time to get on board there

p.s. I forgot to mention, we JUST moved from there in June of '08, after my husband retired from the Navy.
