For the most part all the ones along Prospect are safe. Some are nicer than others - you have to look at them. In general they are not a bargain. Check out Carriage House apartments on Euclide Ave. - they are pretty nice - and there are some nice looking complexes on Clinton Ave., closer to town. Most of Hackensack is pretty safe - Just avoid the area between lower Anderson Ave. and and lower Central Ave. (meaning closer to main St.) If you drive through the not so nice areas it is very easy to tell!

Thanks a lot for your reply, Cinnabon. I truly appreciate it. We did visit Euclid Ave but from the looks of it, it doesnt seem too safe for someone who has to stay home with 2 kids and an old aunt living with me Well, I may be wrong but anything after the bridge(dont know the name) seems to be the somewhat ok part of Hackensack. Can you recommed some more names? On prospect ave? Or have you had any friends live in Summit manor?
Thanks in advance
Sam

Summit Manor would be quieter & more suburban, judging by it's location, although I believe they are just average garden apartments & less luxurious than Euclid or the Prospect Ave apartments. I can't think of any other specific names, but if you check the Record on Sunday, many will have ads. I used to live at the place on Euclid & I felt very safe there. Hackensack overall is pretty safe. I work on Main St. right down the block from Euclid, and yeah, you see minorities walking around, but that doesn't mean it is "unsafe". I never hear about any muggings or anything like that happening in the area. The areas I was talking about (Anderson to Central) are primarily black areas, somewhat poor, not places I would want to be (as a white person), but again, I don't believe there is a lot of crime going on, so I wouldn't worry about being a few blocks away from there.

Hi!
I am not sure if you moved yet. I used to live at Prospect Towers (both buildings) most people think Prospect Avenue is a little pricey. Prospect Towers has the 24 hour doorman, concierge, pool, covered parking, etc. Excelsior I & II has similiar amenities. Excelsior is a little extra with the restaurant-cafe, dry cleaners, etc. Depends on what you're looking for.
The neighborhood was safe (due to my late night outings, I arrived home...unknown time zones) I'm young so what the heck! ;0)
I'm moving back to Hackensack from Connecticut.

PLEASE NOTE: "Crime" happens in nice neighborhoods as well. You may hear the fire truck and ambulance due to the Hackensack Hospital being on Prospect Avenue. Good Luck! Peace and Love!

Look in Cambridge Manor. There is a strong indian population there. The apartments are garden style and there are a couple of empty apts now.

Wow! FYI, Hackensack is a great diverse town. NEver any racial unrest. There are lots of "somewhat poor" white, hispanic and people of many races all over the town.

Wishing you all peace and love in your lives
