Valentine's Day
I just realized it's coming soon!
What is everyone doing that day? The GF and I just decided to have a cheap, fun night. We are going bowling in Bayonne.

Nothing. B&C thinks it's a stupid holiday. Doesn't understand why you need a special day to tell someone you love them when you should be telling them that everyday not just on Feb 14th

Hey Wiley- I totally agree with B&C. Just a Hallmark holiday to get significant others put in the dog house if they don't come home with the "right" gift.
Is Valentine's Day celebrated in Scotland? Is it a "big deal" there like it is here?

DH and I are going to go to dinner at Mediterranean Bistro in Washington, yummy. However, we will be going on 2/13 instead of 2/14 since many of the "better" restaurants have a tendency to serve a limited menu on holidays.

I don't think it is a holiday over there... To me, it's just another way to get people to spend money! They laugh at our St. Pat's day as well... he's not even Irish!!!!

Friends of ours are having their annual dart party at their house that night and we are all going and sleeping over.
When I told my friend, the hostess, it was Valentine's Day, her response was, "like you have anything better to do". She was right.
Valentine's day is two of the three wedding anniversaries my husband and I have.... Long story, we've married eachother three times and have never been divorced.... Yeah, it's strange.

Personally, I don't like to make plans for that day simply because like everything else, it has become very commercialized, if you don't buy a gift or make special plans does that make the love for your spouse any less? I like to be spontaneous about things, sometimes it's great to go out to dinner & drinks but sometimes is just as fun to stay home, watch a movie, drink a bottle of wine & then bang each other like a screen door on a hurricaine....yeah....that's romantic.

Ok, we didn't marry three times by choice, more by necessity. In fact, by the time we got to the third, we both looked at eachother and said, I'm not sure I want to marry you... LOL
We eloped when he was in the Marine Corps and then he got orders to go to Japan. He comes from a military family and there was no way his family would believe that the Marine Corps was paying for/or providing housing for him and his "fiance", SO, I hired someone to perform a fake wedding in front of our families and that was on Valentine's Day.
To this day, neither of our families know the truth (almost 17 years later).
Then when the twins were born, I wanted them baptised Catholics and the church didn't recognize the marriage, so once again, down the aisle we went on Valentine's Day, to get married in the Catholic Church.
Not really romantic when you know the whole story, but what is, is that we both still really love eachother and said we would marry eachother again if given a choice. I want to go renew our vows someday in the cheesiest Vegas chapel there is, because this time it will be for fun and by choice.
