My wife and I are planning to buy a townhouse here:

365 Lehigh Avenue
Perth Amboy, NJ 08861

Anyone has any insights into the neighboring community ? Crime-rate ?

I am more interested about the walkability of this place. Given some amenities like shoprite, YMCA, NJTransit Station, Pier, etc are within a 1 mile radius.
Also is there any news regarding the Ferry to NY ?

If you are willing to walk anywhere in Perth Amboy then you are one very brave soul. Why dont you check this site right here where you can look up demographics for any town. You could also do a search in the threads and read the fear others have about that aweful place.

I hear the waterfront has really cleaned up and some high dollar water front townhomes have been built. I also hear that old restaurant called The Barge is still there which is really really really good.

Perth Amboy is not a very nice town by any stretch of exaggeration.
