We recently moved to a new house. Someone is taking pictures of our house without asking us. They are taking pictures from inside the car itself and leaving very quickly. This happened 3 times since past 2 weeks between 3-3:30 PM. Who could it be? Did this happen to anyone? And NO, our house is not a mansion.

Maybe your spouse/significant other hired a PI to monitor your activity?

This is .... sort of normal. I have done this for hire before. Mortgage company is making sure you live in the house... or something like that???? However... 3 times seems odd. I was only ever asked to take pictures once. I'll try to find more info about it.

I will take a picture of the car next time. But what's wrong if they ask us and take it?

It's one thing to have a one-time series taken, but this sounds more like the place is being cased.

Definitely get some pictures of the car and, if you can, the occupants. But I would also suggest you get a real security audit and alarm system ASAP. If you already have a system in, make sure it is fully functional.

Call me paranoid, but I'd rather make sure the place is secured.

Its an probably an appraiser taking a picture of your house and using it as a comparable for his report on another house that is refinancing or being sold in your area. He has every right to take a picture of your house from the street without your permission.

I suggest you notify your local police department to make them aware of what happened along with a description of the vehicle. Other residents might have had similar experiences in the area. Hopefully the authorities will cognizant during their routine patrol.

my guess is because it doesn't matter if you are home or not, and not worth their time to ask you.
