Even with all the things that happened growing up in Newark I can still think of happy memories - the vieiw form my window and the hot summer night sounds of the city playing in the streets. As long as I have a nice cozy roof over my head, nice neighbors, safety etc. I couldn't complain. Whether you have the hustle and bustle memories or country relaxed memories...there all good memories. Feel blessed to have what you have and live where you live.

we don't need to shut it down and you didn't offend me (nor anyone else I don't think). also, i'm not insulting you either. it would be like me preaching about parenting when i'm not a parent, does that make sense?
when i was 17, i thought i lived in the world's worst place - all my friends thought this too - it's typical. after time and experience, you'll soften your views and considering where you are now, in Mendham, you'll look back one day and realize just how damn lucky you were.

I think Strapani's views are just as valid as anyone else's. Just because he's 17 doesn't mean older people should give him a hard time for thinking out loud. We should welcome the voices of younger people here!

yeah, mendham is nice. but I just can't help but feel like i've missed out on something, you know? I can't tell you how many weekends were lost here. It's not like when I lived in bridgewater and I was a stones throw away from different shopping outlets. the convenience was beautiful, i could just go to the mall for 5 minutes, pick something up, did what I needed to do and I was out of there. it was so convenient and when I moved to this beautiful town of Mendham, i lost that. I honestly don't see myself coming back here. even my friends from other parts of Morris County tell me that they would never want to live in Mendham or anywhere west of here. they say its to isolated.

You're not interested in having an "intelligent conversation", and no, I don't take you seriously. When your original post makes ignorant statements like "everyone west of 287 is just a bunch of hicks", it's not to be taken seriously.
And calling me "sir" doesn't help your case, so don't bother. As Tahiti said above, come back when you've lived outside of mommy and daddy's house and then we can possibly have an intelligent conversation.

maybe you will, maybe you won't. but your friends are 17 too, so of course feel the same way! but trust me, when you're grown, married, have a job, kids and are bit**ing about mortgage and taxes and utilities, you'll look back on your time in one of the nicest towns in NJ with fondness and thank your parents for giving you the opportunity to live there.
there a facebook group for where I live now. reading the wall, it's hilarious - ALL the adults (who grew up here) absolutely sing the praises of their time here, while all the current kids complain and moan.

I totally get what your saying and Im 42. I find living in Jefferson Township poorer than Mendham but similiar actually Mendham has more action . I often say to myself, ohh driving to everything is so damn far, there are no great gyms out here, driving driving driving and no streetlights so NO action at all. So an old bag gets what your saying. Now do I want non stop action, no, but I would take a house in a more lets say middle of the road town with amenties closer. So I do get it and agree with you. Bridgewater is a great mix, a little too busy for my tastes I would like Peapack so I do get that driving to everything is a bit of a pain in the butt. I dont want to be in the action but closer. So some get what your saying you just said it a little harsh.
