What do you guys think of Lodi?
Just a question out of curiosity.
I've been living here for a year now and i get mixed responses about Lodi. I am renting here for now and soon to be moving to own soon. (just not sure now is the right time)
For me, I think it's a nice town overall but when i see it listed in some of the worst towns in NJ i'm confused. I don't see much crime going on around here. Though i do see a lot of immigrants moving into the town which isn't always a bad thing.

it's not a bad town in terms of crime. white people in the surburbs just get paranoid when they see a little bit of a blue collar town and they immediately label it as a bad area. Lodi is a bit blue collar, and it certainly has that appearence, but its not a bad place to live. i believe Lodi also has a sizable Lation population which is why some people also look down upon Lodi, because they associate Latinos with gangs and crime. not to worry though, you live in Lodi, so you know first hand what its like. and since you think its not bad, then you're probably right.
by the way everyone... I'm white, so don't call me a racist. I have said nothing even remotely racist in the previous paragraph. i've only stated the facts.

^Its ironic that you recognize that a lot of people associate a hispanic presence with street crime, gangs, etc. when you named north hudson as one of the worst places to live in nj (in another thread).

I think Lodi is an interesting area. I find Hasbrouck Heights even more interesting. These are two areas growing up in Northern Bergen County even back then it was the so called Lower class people down there (joking but thats what people thought) Of course as a kid who the hell cares but now when I go to these areas I like them more and more. I really dont dig Lodi as much as Hasbrouck Heights, its got that art deco style bugalow housing like in California kind of and find the houses very very cool. Its a nice little town. Lodi especially the alphabet areas is alittle interesting and Lodi as awhole is kind its own little world. Do I like Lodi, too crowded but am beginning to see the beauty of an area different than northern Bergen COunty !!!

oooh, i getcha! yeah, North Hudson does have a high hispanic population doesn't it? yeah, everyone was telling me that the crime rate in the North Hudson Area is much lower than the average. that area just never really appealed to me, it's not really that nice of an area. it's very urban, probably the most urban you'll find in North Jersey, other than big cities like Newark and JC.
