You think $28k in taxes vs $12k in taxes is OK because "Alpine doesn't have schools"? Have you looked at the test scores, etc., for Weehawken's schools? While they're not in the toilet, they're certainly nothing spectacular- the high schools in the middle-class town in Middlesex County that I grew up in has better test results.

I still say it comes down to the urban vs suburban thing.

How about you spilt the differance and move to house on the Cliffs in a nice quite area that also has a great views of NYC for a half mill less with a heated swimming pool in Cliffside Park. A one square mile town that you don't have to worry about driving your kids everywhere. It's between Alpine and Weehawkin and close to a good private school in Englewood. I'm not sure if Weehawkin has any private schools close by?

Cliffside Park, NJ, 07010 - MLS ID#2847753 - Single Family Home Real Estate - REALTOR.com®

I'm kind of in the same boat deciding between Cliffside park and Holmdel. Good luck.

listen just buy the house in Alpine. My husband grew up in Old Tappan, he used to party in the woods in Alpine. This was a sleepy tiny , country little town. People who bought small homes made a fortune if they had some land and sold. Of course you see what Alpine has become today. Even if its not the best house, your value will go way up in that town over time. If your looking for a more quiet town, family life, not a ton of action at night in Alpine but a true family norman rockwell lifestyle thats the town. IF you looking for action, city , urban beat then the other town is the answer. I think if your talking family, children, schools , Alpine is the easy choice.

WOW Stone28....you know whats funny, my wife and I actually saw that house on the Internet, and we thought about it, BUT We have been hearing that Cliffside Park, has had a lot of Home robberies over the years, we asked around....
As for Alpine or Weehawken ( in the Kingswood Area ) , we YET have to find ONE home robbery.....

AS for Stevemorse.. You are right Alpine property Value will def. go up......
i know that Weehawken is slowly going up too......

people may laugh at your despute between Alpine and Weehawken. as tahiti said its like chosing between Beverly Hills and Compton, and she's right. Weehawken isn't the nicest place around, and Alpine is insanely nice. Your kids will be safer in Alpine, but I'm a kid (17), and I live in a town similar to Alpine, although not quite as wealthy and more populated, and I'm dying here. your kids will be bored. sure, they'll live in a nice safe community. but kids, especially teenagers, they like something more like Weehawken. it's for you to decide though, I was just putting those facts out there. if you want the honest and smart decision, I would go with Alpine. you probably won't regret it.

I Really Appreciate your honest Opinion coming from a teenager....
Weehawken is closer to the city, but Like you said...is a really Safe Area in Alpine...., Kids could play in the backyard on summer and winter days....
